Manchester Airports Group records over 61m passengers in 2018



MAG, the operator of Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, finished 2018 on a high as each airport welcomed more passengers in December than in the equivalent month the previous year.


The December growth rounded off a successful 2018 for MAG, as 61.1m passengers used its airports, representing an 8.2% year-on-year increase.


The end of 2018 also marks five years of MAG ownership of Stansted Airport. In that time, Stansted has grown its passenger numbers by 56.9%, serving 10 million more passengers in 2018 than in 2013. 

Over the same period Manchester Airport grew by 36.7% and East Midlands grew by 12.7%.


Overall MAG's three airports served 18.2 million more passengers in 2018 than they did five years ago.


Stansted welcomed 28 million passengers in a year for the first time in its history and achieved a record in December when it hit 2 million passengers for the first time. Manchester airport recorded 1.95 million passengers in December.


East Midlands Airport served 231,000 passengers in December, up 2.6%.
