3D app lets EasyJet passengers check bag size at home

EasyJet customers can now use 3D technology to check - before they leave for the airport - if their cabin bags are the right size.

Developed in conjunction with Travelport, the new initiative uses 3D augmented reality on the easyJet app to allow passengers to scan their bags at home.

EasyJet claims it is the first UK airline to offer the technology, which is currently only available to those with iPhone 6S onwards.

Passengers must take a photograph of their bag with the app, which then measures it against an on-screen 3D box to see whether it fits within the maximum dimensions.

Cormac Reilly, VP and global head of travel partners solutions at Travelport, said: "Audiences are increasingly demanding digital solutions, which improve their travel experience. We were therefore thrilled to support easyJet push the barrier of innovation once again.

"By incorporating this unique augmented reality feature in the app, easyJet will further reduce un-expected baggage queries on arrival."
