Tour operator founder Geoffrey Kent buys back company

Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent has bought back the company he sold in 2016.

Kent and his close friend, founder and former owner of Silversea cruises, Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, have bought the company from Chinese tourism and investment firm Zhonghong Holdings Group.

The upmarket tour operator was founded in 1962 and now operates in over 100 countries across seven continents.

Under the acquisition, which is expected to be completed this year, Kent will hold 15% of A&K and Lefebvre will take 85%.

Kent will continue as chairman and CEO of the operating company, while Lefebvre will become chairman of Abercrombie & Kent Holding.
