Police appeal for dashcam footage after robbery at travel agency

Police are appealing for witnesses, including motorists with dashcams, who may be able to help catch a robber who stole cash from a Thomas Cook agency in Runcorn at the weekend.

The incident happened at about 10.10am on Sunday at the agency's branch in Church Street, when a man walked in and demanded that the manager close the store.

He then forced the manager to take him into the back office where he stole a cash from the tills, including euros and dollars, according to local news service Runcorn and Widnes World.

The man, described as a white man with dark stubble, of medium build, 30 to 40 years old and approximately 6ft 2in tall, then fled the store.

He was wearing dark sunglasses, a waist length grey Canada Goose Parka style coat with fur around the hood, blue jeans, was carrying a red carrier bag and spoke with a slight Liverpool accent.

Detective Constable, Daryl Gavin, said: "The staff at this store have been left extremely shaken as a result of their ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the person responsible.

"The investigation is currently ongoing and we are following a number of lines of enquiry."

"As part of the investigation I'm keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.

"This incident occurred at a time when a number of shops would have been opening, so there would have been plenty of people in the area who may be able to assist our investigation.

"I'd also like to hear from any motorists with dashcams who were driving on Mersey Road around the time of the incident and may have recorded the offender fleeing the scene."

Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 318198.
