Kuoni travel trends by numbers




Kuoni released its 2019 Travel Trends Report this week, giving a good indicator of the long-haul travel market. Here's a quick summary of the stats:


11,160 - the number of glasses of Prosecco poured for customers in Kuoni stores last year - a new record

187 - the combined age of the couple who are Kuoni's oldest customers

70 - the percentage of appointments with a Kuoni travel expert that convert to a sale

70 - also the percentage of people who believe their reasons for booking a holiday have changed over the years, with almost half saying this is due to more variety on offer with a wider choice of activities, workshops and retreats.

60 - the percentage of adults who say they learnt something new on holiday as a child, with more than half believing that their childhood experience had improved their life as an adult.~

16 - the number of consecutive years where the Maldives has been Kuoni's best-selling destination (see top 20 list below)

20 - the number of properties due to open in the Maldives in the next two years

8 - the percentage rise in bookings enjoyed by Sri Lanka year on year, putting it in second position in Kuoni's list of top selling destinations

24 - the number that Japan reached after entering Kuoni's list of top 25 best selling destinations for the first time this year

77 - the percentage of people who would consider travelling alone to see somewhere new, provided they were somewhere they felt safe
