Everywoman in Travel introduces new awards category

Nominations are now open for this year's IBM iX everywoman in Travel awards.

The awards, now in their third year, aim to celebrate the career achievements of women in the sector and demonstrate the value that gender equality brings to business.

This year will see the introduction of a new 'Disruptor Award', which will be given to a woman who is challenging the status quo in an 'unconventional and innovative' way.

Previous winners of the awards include Captain Kate McWilliams, who became the world's youngest female Captain at the age of 26, and Meenu Vadera, who set up social enterprises in India offering work to oppressed women by training them to become professional chauffeurs.

Karen Gill MBE, co-founder of everywoman, said: "Extensive research has proven the importance of female role models and how showcasing champions of the industry helps to attract, retain and develop women into travel. The industry faces unprecedented challenges in the face of Brexit so, more than ever, it needs to appeal to the agile talent that will innovate and navigate."

Entries close on June 24 and the awards ceremony will take place in London on November 13.
