Seven tourists killed and 21 missing after Danube tour boat capsizes

Seven tourists have died and 21 are missing after a boat capsized on the Danube river in Budapest.

The boat hit another vessel while moored in the centre of the Hungarian capital, close to its parliament building, with 30 tourists from South Korea and three tour guides on board.

A major search operation continues. Seven people have so far been rescued.

At a press conference in Seoul, a spokesman for the travel agency which organised the boat tour, Lee Sang-moo, said at least one child was among those missing.

Heavy rain has led to strong currents on the Danube on this stretch of the river, popular for tour boats and river cruises.

The boat that sunk has been identified as the Hableany, or Mermaid.
