Trade rallies round following collapse of The Holiday Place

The industry has come together to help following the collapse of The Holiday Place earlier this week.

The well-respected company ceased trading after nearly 40 years in business, much to the disappointment and surprise of many agents and operators.

Fellow Cuba specialist, Cuba Direct, said it was saddened by the news and said the failed company had been a major part in the growth of Cuba as a destination.

It said it works with all the same partners and suppliers and is confident it can help agents rebook customers.

"Cuba Direct along with many of our travel partners have worked side by side with The Holiday Place in offering holidays, tours and bespoke itineraries," it told agents.

"We are currently working with service providers and the Cuban Tourist Board to try and ensure travellers to Cuba can still enjoy their holiday."

Meanwhile, Jetline Holidays and Jetline Cruise threw a lifeline to some of the staff of The Holiday Place who have lost their jobs.

The sister companies said they were currently looking for experienced staff to join their head office in High Barnet or as homeworkers in their sales, product and marketing departments.

More agents expressed their shock and sadness on social media following the news of the company's demise.

Some of them had met with some of the sales teams just days before.

Responding to their comments, Alan Meadows, trade sales development manager for The Holiday Place and Cuba Holidays, thanked agents for their support and urged them to continue to support 'this amazing island in any way you can'.
