Two new appointments at Thomas Cook Hotels & Resorts

Thomas Cook Hotels and Resorts has expanded its senior team with the appointment of a director of operations and a head of e-commerce.

Neil Evans, who was most recently chief operating officer at Karisma Hotels & Resorts, will oversee Thomas Cook's 200-strong hotel and resort portfolio in the new role of director of operations.

His background includes 15 years at TUI where he was MD of its hotel division for 11 years.

Based in Thomas Cook's Palma office, he will report to chief of hotels and resorts Enric Noguer.

In addition, Cecilia Svane has joined from hotel management company GCH Hotels as head of e-commerce to support Thomas Cook Hotels & Resorts' direct sales.

The company said bookings through its own hotel brand websites have more than doubled on last year due to new technology and revenue management, and Svane's appointment is part of a move to continue that growth.

"Given our recent expansion with 12 new hotels already opened this summer, I wanted to add more strength within our operations team and bring together the teams across Spain and Greece as well as franchise hotels and guest experience, training and CRM under one leader," said Noguer.

"Neil's experience in leading international hotel operations will complement the existing senior operations talent and help us to continue delivering great holidays for our guests."
