Missouri Meets the Trade at UK Sales Mission

The Director of Tourism for Missouri, Ward Franz, headed up a delegation from the state during a recent UK Sales Mission, which included travel agent training and product meetings with key tour operators.

Delegates from St Louis, Kansas City and Independence attended the week-long mission and carried out destination training with Ascot Travel, American & Worldwide Travel, Major Travel and a webinar training session with reservation staff in Travelpack's office.

Ward Franz commented: "The U.K. is a major overseas market for Missouri and our meetings with key industry partners enable us to strengthen existing relationships and forge new ones. The Sales Mission continues our commitment to the UK marketing campaign and strategy. In addition to the key icons of Route 66, the Gateway Arch, Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum and the Lake of the Ozarks, we have several key anniversaries which we are promoting, including the 100th anniversary of Prohibition in 2020 and Missouri's bicentennial in 2021."

Also in 2020, the first Tiger Woods designed public golf course will open at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri's Ozark Mountains. The challenging but player-friendly walkable course will have an unforgettable finish where golfers will traverse through a breath-taking natural cavern system to return to the clubhouse.

In St Louis, the new 200 foot tall observation wheel at St Louis Union station opens in September 2019 and a new 120,000 square foot aquarium is scheduled to open in Winter 2019.
