TUI suspends Inteletravel sales as agency probes suspect booking

TUI has suspended sales with homeworking travel agency Inteletravel while the two companies investigate a suspect booking.

It is understood the investigation relates to a single booking made by an agent with TUI about two weeks ago.

An Inteletravel spokeswoman said the company was investigating a booking unaccounted for in its system, but said she couldn't comment further until after the investigation.

TUI immediately agreed with a request by Inteletravel to freeze its distribution channel, which it said was standard practice.

A TUI spokesperson said: "We will work closely with InteleTravel to help with their investigation and ensure a process is put in place so that when the issue is resolved they can continue to sell through TUI."

InteleTravel is a US-based homeworking agency which has gained more than 3,000 members in the UK since joining ABTA in March this year.

It has been criticised by some agents for encouraging members of the public without any travel agency experience to join its network to sell holidays as hobbies or simply as a sideline.
