HotelPlanner acquires Singapore based Venuexplorer

Group booking platform HotelPlanner has strengthened its recent entry into the Singapore market with a first acquisition.

It acquired Venuexplorer Singapore, which features more than 100 event spaces in Singapore, including restaurants, banquet halls and conference centres.

Its listings also include less conventional venues such as Singapore Turf Club and F1 Karting Circuit.

The business hopes to increase its market share by up to 300 event spaces by the year-end, says Venuexplorer's founder Christopher Lee.

Venuexplorer allows event organisers to search, and book suitable venues and connects them directly to venue owners.

"We are quite excited about the new relationship with HotelPlanner. New advances in technology are fueling the events industry, and we're confident that HotelPlanner's booking technology will help take us to whole new levels," Lee said.

As part of the transaction, Lee becomes executive VP, APAC for HotelPlanner Singapore, and will lead its growth strategy in Asia.

"We are very pleased to have Venuexplorer as part of our extended family and are confident that our success in the industry will allow them to continue exceeding expectations," said Tim Hentschel, co-founder and CEO of HotelPlanner.

Venuexplorer plans to expand its reach into the corporate market next year.

HotelPlanner provides online hotel reservations services in the global hotel marketplace, and is a trusted resource for group event planners and hotel partners.

It offers robust travel technology expertise to more than five million customers globally with lowest available rates from a network over 100,000 hotel partners.
