Delta launches priority boarding subscription service

Delta Air Lines is rolling out a new subscription service for fliers but it's not an all-you-can-fly program.

For a fixed $59 per year, SkyMiles Select offers members priority Group 1 boarding, eight drink vouchers and a limited edition bag tag.

It is aimed at lower tier frequent fliers who wish to board earlier to grab priceless overhead baggage space.

Group 1 boarding comes after active military members, and business and first class ticket holders, but before economy customers.

"Customers have told us they want more ways to access benefits when traveling with Delta, and we know priority boarding is a valuable benefit," Delta spokeswoman Kathryn Steele told USA Today.

It is available only for existing SkyMiles members and the subscription is valid for one year.
