Catholic priest charged with sexually harassing cruise ship employee

A Catholic priest is due in court today to answer charges of sexual abuse aboard a Carnival cruise ship.

According to court documents, Father Amal Samy, 37, a priest from the Archdiocese of Mobile AL, is accused of repeatedly attempting to touch a masseuse and exposing himself during a spa treatment, citing a  Carnival security witness statement.

The church issued a statement: "The Archdiocese of Mobile learned last week of the allegation against Father Amal Samy, who denies the allegation. The Archdiocese takes all such allegations seriously. It is our policy not to comment on pending legal matters."

The incident took place aboard the Carnival Fantasy during a sailing in August.
