When it's good to have ice at an airport...

New York JFK Airport's TWA Hotel is offering another way to kill time during this winter's inevitable cold weather delays.

It opens a new ice skating rink later this month dubbed the Runway Rink.

It will open seven days a week through the end of February, priced at $15 a go.

Ice skate rental is $10.

"Normally, when you hear about ice at the airport, it's not good news," said Tyler Morse, CEO of hotel operator MCR/MORSE Development.

"But in this case, people can get excited about a frozen tarmac at JFK - we're creating the Rockefeller Center of Queens."

The hotel opened to great fanfare earlier this year, featuring 512 rooms, meeting space and a rooftop pool with tarmac views.

The rink is located close to the Connie cocktail bar which is in a decommissioned Lockheed plane.
