Another cruise passenger dies in separate Belize road crash

Another cruise passenger has died in a road traffic accident in Belize, days after two Carnival Cruise Line guests were killed in a separate crash in the country.

Carolyn Moxley Gillis, 77, was flung from a vehicle after it blew a tire and flipped over several times.

It was claimed she was not wearing a seat belt.

She was travelling with three generations of her family on a private Belize tour who all suffered minor injuries.

The group were sailing on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas.

As with the Carnival Cruise Line passengers who were killed last week in a head-on collision with an SUV, Gillis is also a North Texas resident.

Joseph Myvett, head of the Belize National Crime Investigation Branch said the family were travelling to North Belize on a day tour.

Myvett said the driver, who is in hospital in a stable condition, has been served with a 'notice of intended prosecution'.
