Aman checking in to Miami

Resort group Aman is bringing its unique brand of luxury to Miami's South Beach.

It will take shape on the site of the former Versailles Hotel and offer a hotel and branded residences.

Although virtually no other details have been announced yet, it is expected to open in 2023.

Miami based developer OKO Group is one of the firms working on the development.

OKO Group is also working on Aman's first urban resort in the US, due to open next year in New York City.

Aman has two other resorts open in the US in Wyoming and Utah.

"Aman Miami will give our guests the opportunity to connect with Aman in a culturally rich urban environment, whilst also serving as a gateway to Amanera in the Dominican Republic and Amanyara in the Turks and Caicos," said Vladislav Doronin, Aman chairman and CEO.

"My strategy for Aman places continued focus on developing further urban destinations for the brand following the success of similar projects such as Aman Tokyo.

Founded in the 1980s, Aman's roots are in Southeast Asia where it launched with a property in Phuket, and developed further resorts in Indonesia and other island destinations in the region.

It has now grown to 39 hotels and resorts in 22 destinations and has further developments in opening in the coming years in Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Bangkok.

The company also offers branded air tours by private jet packaged with stays at Aman resorts and has a luxury 'phinisi' cruise vessel sailing island hopping itineraries in Indonesia.
