Flight attendant grounded for leaking celebrity passenger information

Air China suspended a flight attendant who it accused of posting personal information online about celebrity customers.

The airline was alerted by aviation industry blogger Chao Cewei who noticed posts by the male flight attendant which divulged information on about 20 Chinese celebrities.

The employee using the online pseudonym Ruo Chen allegedly shared details of flight records, membership card status, and date of birth.

The flight attendant even posted an image of himself in uniform with actor Jin Dong, according to Chao.

Information posted relates to actors Bao Beier, Deng Lun, Ni Ni and Jiang Yingrong, among others.

The employee's 'conduct has seriously violated Air China's data management rules,' the airline said.

"We've decided to suspend him from flight duties and he will face severe punishment. We offer our sincere apologies to the affected passengers," it said in a statement.
