Travel price tracking service Yapta acquired

Corporate travel price tracking service Yapta has been acquired by business spend management firm Coupa Software.

It bought Seattle based Yapta for an undisclosed fee and will add it to the travel and expense offering within the Coupa BSM platform.

Yapta tracks real time airfare and hotel price movements and sends instant savings alerts to registered users once the price drops.

It works with about 100 Fortune 500 firms.

It says it has helped its clients save about $350 million in travel spend to date.

"Yapta offers greater transparency into travel spend, helping businesses get the most value from their travel planning. I am excited to welcome the Yapta team to Coupa," said Rob Bernshteyn, chairman and CEO of Coupa.

Business travel accounts for more than $1 trillion of spend per year, according to the Global Business Travel Association annual report.

"Joining the team at Coupa offered a logical next step for our company given Coupa's strong focus on delivering value across business spend management," said James Filsinger, CEO of Yapta.
