Royal Caribbean cancels five Liberty of the Seas cruises

Royal Caribbean has cancelled five sailings for early next year to give it more time to carry out upgrades to Liberty of the Seas.

The affected sailings are week-long voyages from February 14, 21, 28, March 7 and 14.

Guests with bookings can apply for a full refund or rebook on Liberty of the Seas for another date.

They will receive $200 in onboard credit or $400 for suite guests.

They can also rebook for another ship without penalty.

"All of our guests have been informed and we are working with them to offer alternative cruises to make sure they enjoy their well-deserved vacations," the line said.

The upgrades are part of 'Royal Amplified,' a $900 million programme adding new features to 10 ships.

Liberty of the Seas offers week-long Caribbean cruises out of Galveston, Texas. It can accommodate nearly 3,800 passengers.
