Leonardo to open Bristol hotel

Leonardo Hotels will open its first property in Bristol at the end of this year as part of its rapid European expansion.

The Bristol hotel will be the group's 13th in the UK. The chain, a member of the Israeli Fattal Group, now operates over 200 hotels in 17 countries.

The 200-room Bristol hotel will be part of the Glassfields development on Temple Way, close to the city's business district.

It will also include new office space and shopping outlets, a restaurant and bar, meeting facilities and a 24/7 staffed reception.

Leonardo is also investing in a major refurbishment of four of its luxury Leonardo Royal hotels - The Midland in Manchester, acquired in 2018, and three hotels in London whose longterm leases were acquired last year.

The Midland (pictured left) is one of Manchester's most iconic landmarks and Leonardo said the £14 million transformation, due to be completed in June, will 'remaining respectful of its history and status'.

It will include two new dining concepts as well as 'stylish' refurbishments of the bedrooms and ground floor.

Meanwhile in London, Leonardo hotels in St Paul's, Tower Bridge and the City will get brand new dining offerings, complete bedroom and public area refurbishments.

Leonardo Royal St Paul's is set to get a new rooftop bar, scheduled to open in mid-May.

Fattal Group entered the UK market in December 17 when it completed the purchase of 36 Jurys Inn hotels, including Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh and Leonardo Hotel London Heathrow Airport.

Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland also operates 36 hotels under the Jurys Inn brand.
