BA to increase frequency to Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia's tourism board says it's delighted that British Airways has confirmed it will operate an additional two flights a week to the Caribbean island next winter.

BA will also launch an extra weekly flight to Cancun in Mexico from December plus two additional weekly flights to Cape Town.

Saint Lucia saw a 6% rise in UK visitors to 83,677 last year and tourism minister Dominic Fedee said the extra flights would make the island even more accessible.

The flights will begin on October 28 and run until March 27, giving BA a total of nine flights a week to Saint Lucia.

Director of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority UK & Europe Patricia Charlery-Leon said: "We are absolutely thrilled that British Airways has added these flights.

"We have a longstanding partnership with the airline and the UK team and want to thank them for their support of Saint Lucia. British Airways has already added additional flights this summer so these new winter flights will help us to continue our momentum during our high season."

Operating on a Boeing 777 aircraft, the long-haul BA flights will leave Gatwick at 12:20 (GMT) to arrive at Hewanorra International 17:15 on Wednesdays and then again on Saturdays to allow for better connections.
