British numbers up for French holiday park operator

France's leading luxury holiday park operator, Sunêlia Vacances, is seeing more bookings from Brits this year.

Sunêlia Vacances managing director Marc Canavaggia was speaking as he visited the UK for the Camping and Caravan Show, Birmingham, this week.

He said: "The UK is our fourth market, but numbers are increasing. We've had two very good years for weather in areas such as Brittany and the Loire Valley.

"In addition, the failure of Thomas Cook has led people to look at other holiday options.

"We are not seeing an impact from Brexit and we don't expect to. Brexit is not a good idea for Europe, but British people have always been travellers. It's in their DNA."

The operator is sharing a stand at the Camping and Caravan Show with UK holiday parks group Best of British, as part of a new joint marketing agreement for 2020.

Canavaggia described the partnership as a 'win-win situation', adding: "I'm delighted to have found a partner in the UK with similar values and of a similar quality to our holiday offering in Europe.

"We share the same quality of product and the same aim. "

He said Sunêlia's portfolio of 30 sites: 26 in France, two in Spain and one each in Italy and Holland, complements the 55 Best of British campsites, touring caravan sites and holiday parks in England, Scotland and Wales.

British holidaymakers signing up to the Sunêlia and Best of British loyalty schemes benefit from regular offers, exclusive packages and waived booking fees.  Park owners also benefit from wide-reaching cross-marketing opportunities and the chance to exchange knowledge with colleagues.

Sunêlia Vacances has added three new locations to its high-end portfolio for the 2020 season

Two are in France, at Cap Ferret near Arcachon on the Atlantic Coast and Portiragnes on Languedoc's Mediterranean and the other is at Sant Pere de Pescador on the Costa Brava in Spain.
