Change of venue for Business Travel Show and TTE

Literally within minutes of the TravelMole team remarking on how easy and civilised it was at London Olympia this week, we received notification that the Business Travel Show and Travel Technology Europe will be relocating to ExCeL next year.

The organisers, Northstar Travel Group, were apparently attracted by the 'accessibility and flexibility of space' at ExCel, the much bigger venue in London Docklands that already hosts World Travel Market.

The relocation, they hope, will attract more European buyers and improve the customer experience for both visitors and exhibitors.

"The move to ExCeL London will allow us to be more creative with our visitor and exhibitor propositions. Larger, more flexible space and sponsorship options will let our exhibitors realise their commercial visions and ambitions," said Northstar Travel Group UK managing director David Chapple.

"It also means we can redraw the floorplan to improve traffic flow, visitor navigation, bring Travel Technology Europe onto the same level and introduce a larger crossover, keynote theatre with a significantly increased capacity."

Apparently, the organisers were also attracted by the 'out-of-hours social scene'.

The Moles are yet to be convinced about the move but we'll all find out next year, when the dates have been confirmed as 24-25 February.

  • difficult

As a foreign visitor ExCeL is not an easy location to reach, unless you can fly into LCY. This makes it difficult to fit into one working day. I know of a number of people in the industry who have skipped events there recently for that reason.

  • Disappointing

Getting to WTM is a pain from West London, a pain if we are taking groups and now in all their wisdom they add the Business Travel Show to that pain. I wonder if it is a money thing?

  • Business Travel Show and TTE move

I am disappointed by the move. I am not a frequent visitor but when I do attend my journey from Milton Keynes is easy and quick because there is a through train to Kensington Olympia. Getting to Excel wlll involve two trains and two tube journeys.
