Jetstar Asia to cease operations until mid-April

Singapore based budget carrier will ground all its planes for at least three weeks.

All flight operations will cease temporarily from March 23 to at least April 15, due to the coronavirus impact.

Its entire Airbus A320 fleet has been grounded and some workers have been asked to go on unpaid leave.

The suspension is due to 'the introduction of new government restrictions across multiple jurisdictions in recent days,' it said.

Customers with bookings until April 30 can cancel and claim a full credit to excahnge for flights at a later date.

"The decision is in response to factors beyond our control including a rapid decline in forward travel demand," the airline said.

"Customers should not call the contact centre as due to high demand, as we are experiencing long call wait times."

The airline serves 26 cities across Asia Pacific.
