Oyo offers hotels for self-quarantining

Oyo Hotels & Homes has offered to support the Delhi government by opening its hotels in the capital region for self-quarantining.

Oyo has more than 1,000 hotel partners in the region.

"We have made an earnest outreach to health departments of all state governments to understand how we can leverage our network of hotels for providing pay-per-use or self-quarantine facilities for travellers," a company spokesperson said.

A proposal to subsidise accommodation costs for guests is also being discussed.

"Currently, quarantine facilities in Delhi are not completely occupied. The company has reached out to us, and we have requested them to be on standby," a Delhi government official said.

Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd has already started offering its properties as quarantine hotels with rates capped at INR3,100.

The capital went into an effective lockdown this week, and all passenger flight operations across the country are now grounded until the end of the month.

India has more than 400 confirmed cases of the covid-19 virus.
