Delta Air Lines restarts more international routes

Delta Air Lines is slowly increasing the number of international services from its main Atlanta hub.

It is restarting a few more routes to Latin America during May, and transatlantic flights to Paris.

As well as the Paris route, it will fly to St. Croix and St. Thomas in the Caribbean.

Later in May Delta returns to Guatemala City, Lima, Peru, San Salvador San Jose, Costa Rica and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

It is still taking baby steps with none of the routes flying daily, due to still depressed travel demand.

Domestic and international seat capacity is still about 85% down on the same time in 2019.

These reinstated flights are still 'subject to change due to the evolving nature of Covid-19,' Delta said.

From a historic low of about 80,000 air travelers a day at airports across the country in mid-April, demand has ticked up gradually in recent days.

According to the TSA, it increased to more than 150,000 at the end of last week.

However that is still nearly 95% down on normal levels for the time of year when the country's airports routinely handle nearly 2.5 million travelers daily.
