Frontier Airlines offers social distancing bookings

Although social distancing on planes is taking place by default due to the low numbers of travelers, Frontier Airlines is offering flyers a guarantee.

It is rolling out an option for people looking for a little more personal space.

The 'More Room' seat assignment offers a window or aisle seat with the middle seat left empty.

For an extra fixed fee of $39, passengers get 'extra peace of mind or simply additional comfort' the airline says.

Up to 18 More Room seats are available on flights from May 8 through August 31.

Although very slowly ticking up day by day, average daily air travel numbers are less than 10% of normal levels.

Frontier is also making it compulsory to wear face masks or coverings during the flight.

Only very young children are exempt.

When making bookings, all Frontier customers are given an online health checklist to complete.

It asks if they or any family members have shown any Covid-19 related symptoms in the last 14 days, and are asked to check their temperature and not to travel if they have a fever.
