Air Astana restarts more domestic flights

As Kazakhstan's nationwide state of emergency comes to an end, national carrier Air Astana will resume flights from its hubs at Almaty and Nur-Sultan to regional cities.

Flights take off again from May 12, starting with Aktobe and Kyzylorda, and then Oskemen later this week.

More routes will be progressively added.

"Flights to more cities across the country will resume as soon as local airports re-open," the airline said in a statement.

Air Astana halted all domestic flights on March 22 and then international services a week later.

The carrier restarted services between Almaty and Nur-Sultan earlier this month.

All flights will be operated by Airbus A320 and A321 jets, or Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

The government is also expected to restart public transportation services from May 11.
