Universal Orlando Citywalk partially reopens

Universal Orlando is taking small steps toward a full reopening.

The theme park resort's entertainment district will partially open with just a handful of restaurants and shops from May 14.

About a half-dozen eateries, two retail shops and some merchandise carts will open at Universal Orlando Citywalk.

It is operating limited hours from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and dinning venues will have limited menus.

"Guests should evaluate their own risk as they determine whether to visit. And, in line with CDC guidelines, we specifically do not recommend older adults or individuals at high-risk with severe underlying medical conditions visit our facilities," a Universal statement said.

Visitors will undergo temperature screening and will be required to wear face masks.

Restaurants will have limited capacity to ensure safe social distancing.

Universal said it will also offer free parking.

To reduce interaction with employees, there will be additional cashless payment options.

Like Disney, Universal hasn't said when theme parks and resort hotels will open.

All parks have been shuttered since mid-March.
