Haven launches no-frills breaks from July that allow social distancing

Haven has introduced acommodation-only breaks for sale through travel agents from today and for stays from July.

It claims the Haven Hideaway breaks, available at all of its parks, will allow guests to maintain social distancing, with takeaway food options, supermarkets, launderettes and long stretches of beach.

It says the July launch is in line with the current plan of action from the UK Government but if domestic holiday restrictions aren't lifted by then, bookings will be valid for later stays.

"We have thousands of guests who have already had breaks cancelled this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic," said Gerard Tempest, guest and proposition director.

"We look forward to reopening our parks as soon as Government advice allows and as soon as it is safe to do so; and are busy making changes to the way we operate our parks to ensure we can comply with the latest requirements. With social distancing requirements likely to remain in place we don't expect to be able to provide the full Haven experience to the number of guests we would normally welcome. However we can still provide the chance for families to escape to the British coast and enjoy a breath of fresh air at the seaside on a 'Haven Hideaway' break."

Haven said guests who already have breaks booked during this period will not be affected at this stage.

"We still hope to offer these guests the facilities and activities they have booked, but should this not be possible we will be contacting these guests within 28 days of their break to confirm what facilities will be available to offer them the chance to still take their holiday, to take a credit for a future break or to cancel and receive a full refund as part of Haven's Coronavirus Book with Confidence Guarantee," it said.

As further Government restrictions are lifted, and Haven is able to offer the usual activities, pools and entertainment, guests who book the accommodation-only stays will be offered the chance to upgrade their stay.

"We hope that later in the season we will be able to provide the full range of Haven facilities to all of our guests but whilst we still need to maintain strict social distancing due to Coronavirus, we are unable to open areas where there could be mass gatherings," said Tempest.

"For guests who will be holidaying with us we will be making a range of changes to our check in process and limiting the number of guests staying on park at any time to ensure that we can protect our guests, owners and team as best as possible."'

Prices start at £168 per family based on up to six sharing a two-bed deluxe caravan.

All 2020 and 2021 Haven breaks are covered by the Coronavirus Book with Confidence Guarantee.
