Virgin Voyages' second ship Valiant Lady floats out

Even though Virgin Voyages' first ship Scarlet Lady is yet to start its maiden sailing, the line's second ship has floated out.

Valiant Lady floated out from Fincantieri's Genoa shipyard, marking an important milestone in its construction.

The 110,000 gross ton is identical to Scarlet Lady with a passenger capacity of 2,770.

The ship is scheduled to begin sailing next May in the Mediterranean.

Seven-night itineraries out of Barcelona include calls at Monte Carlo, Marseille, Cagliari, and an overnight in Ibiza.

Scarlet Lady's much-vaunted debut had to be pushed back to at least October 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The entire cruise industry is currently in hibernation due to a CDC 'No Sail' order in place until next month.

It's not true to say that 'the entire cruise industry is currently in hibernation' - river cruises have resumed in Europe, and some small ship ocean lines are resuming in the next couple of weeks e.g. Ponant and SeaDream.
