New Etihad video explains how flying will change

Etihad has launched a short video explaining how the passenger experience will change in order to comply with rules around Covid-19 health and safety measures.

The airline says it has 'completely transformed the travel experience, safer, healthier and with wellbeing at the heart of the journey'.

Among new initiatives include airline ambassadors at Abu Dhabi International Airport and in-flight; and social distancing signage at the airport to remind passengers to keep two metres apart.

The airline is just about to launch its self-service check-in and health-screening service, called Fit to Fly, in which passengers will have their respiratory system, heart rate and temperature checked. Passengers will then be either cleared to move on to check-in or have another assessment.

There'll also be thermal cameras at immigration, self-cleaning handrails on escalators and touchless elevator controls.

At the departure gate, boarding will be carried out row-by-row.

Attila Sagi, technical advisor, hub and midfield operations at Etihad, said: "Everyone will be happy and healthy as they travel, wherever they go in the world."

Mohamed Husain Ahmed, general manager at Abu Dhabi International Airport, said: "Travel has never been safer or more exciting."
