Dream Cruises will be world's first line to resume operations

Genting Cruise Lines has announced Dream Cruises will be the first major cruise brand to restart operations.

Starting July 26, 2020, Explorer Dream will operate short 'island hopping' itineraries out of Keelung, Taiwan.

The ship will call at Penghu, Matzu and Kinmen islands.

The cruise line has spent 'months of detailed planning' to ensure the safety and health of ship guests and crew.

"We thank Taiwan for their initiatives to re-start their economy and the tourism industry and the trust they have placed in Dream Cruises," said Kent Zhu, President of Genting Cruise Line.

"This is truly a remarkable achievement which was made possible by the Taiwan authorities' swift and effective handling of the Covid-19 crisis."

Taiwan has recorded 447 cases in total with seven deaths.

There will be strict health screening protocols at embarkation and disembarkation, and social distancing measures for guests and crew during the sailings.
