Ramblers Walking Holidays trade manager is made redundant

The PR and trade development manager of specialist operator Ramblers Walking Holidays and sister company Adagio is to be made redundant.

Tony Maniscalco, who has been on furlough for three months, has been told his job will go in September, along with six colleagues.

Citing the impact of coronavirus, Managing Director Kevin O'Regan said: "In his 13 years of service, Tony has been the face of Ramblers Walking Holidays, building links with the trade and industry partners as we promote our worldwide walking holidays and charitable business ethos."

Tony said: "I have been told that my role at Ramblers Walking Holidays and Adagio will sadly become redundant in September.

"I am extremely sad as I love the company and its products, having been there for 13 years.

"We have achieved so much in the last year and a half and were making some fantastic inroads with the trade. The current situation is far beyond anything I have ever experienced in the travel industry."

"I have been working hard to develop relationships with travel agents, with encouraging success since last year when RWH Holidays started to work with the travel trade for the first time since its formation in 1946.

"We have achieved so much in the last year-and-a-half and were making some fantastic inroads with the trade. I love this company, but the current situation is far beyond anything I have ever experienced in the travel industry.

"I will miss my contact with the trade journalists and tourist boards but am seeking new part time challenges to utilise my experience gained over the last 30 years."
