Thailand teams up with Leicester City to help restore tourism

Thailand has tapped the Foxes to help restore the country's tourism fortunes.

Thai owned English Premier League team Leicester City announced a season-long shirt sponsorship deal with the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The shirt emblazoned with 'Thailand Smiles With You' officially launches on Monday 27 July.

The club is owned by Bangkok-based King Power.

"The impact of Covid-19 is being felt all over the world and the relationship between Leicester City and King Power gives us the opportunity to support the shared communities that are closest to us," said Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Leicester City Chairman and CEO of King Power International.

"This campaign is our opportunity to make a difference in Thailand, where tourism contributes significantly to the nation's economy and, as a result, the livelihoods of millions of Thai people."

The UK is a big market for Thailand but the global reach of the English Premier League is far greater, reaching billions of viewers in more than 200 countries.
