Southeast Asia LCC aircraft buying spree turns to dust for plane makers

Once upon a time the Southeast Asia low cost carrier market was the goose that laid the golden egg for the big two plane makers and aircraft lessors. It was boom time with fast growing carriers like VietJet and Lion Air Group ordering hundreds of new jets.

There are nearly 1,000 aircraft ordered but yet to be delivered for the region's big LCCs. Then, along came Covid-19 to completely upend the landscape.
