Matta travel fair goes online

The annual Matta travel fair will become an online marketplace this year.

Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents president Tan Kok Liang said the event will go entirely online and takes place from 9 to 15 September.

It expects to partner with Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines, Penang Global Tourism, Malaysian Association of Hotels, and Malaysian Association of Amusement Theme Park and Family Attractions.

"Exhibitors will be offering their best deals with value-added services at special rates," he said.

Registration is now open until 10 August.

While international tourism remains off limits, there will be a larger focus on domestic tourism products.

Deals include Malaysia Airlines flights at 20% discount for domestic destinations for travel until June 2021.

"The national Matta Fair has always been a success and this year we are working hard through the online event despite the challenging conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic," added Tan.
