Wanted: luxury holiday experts

The Travel Directors is reaching out to agents with experience in selling upmarket holidays as it looks to expand its homeworking network.

Business development managers Nisha Bean, pictured left, and Kym O'Brien have been talking to people who've recently been made redundant from companies such as Kuoni, Audley Travel and other luxury specialists about running their own businesses and joining the team.

Nisha said: "We want people who have been made redundant, or who are concerned about their future, to know that there is an opportunity out there.

"A lot of people do sell luxury and most people want to stay in travel if they possibly can, as they love the industry."

She added: "There's no doubting that travel will bounce back. We are taking bookings for 2021 and 2022, which shows people still want to travel.

"We're telling agents who have experience in selling five-star-plus holidays that if they join now, they can set their foundation for their own businesses so they're ready to go when more travel corridors open."

The Travel Directors has grown its network from around 10 at the beginning of the year to the current figure of 30 and aims to have 50 agents running their own businesses by the end of 2020.

The latest induction is taking place on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with six people at a socially distanced face-to-face event at Travel Directors' head office in Nantwich, Cheshire.

Agents must have worked in travel retail for three years and must have extensive knowledge of selling luxury to join the team.
