Hong Kong theme parks get green light to reopen

Hong Kong's theme parks have got the OK to reopen from Friday, 18 September.

It comes after Hong Kong completed a mass testing program of nearly two million people.

It found 42 positive Covid-19 cases.

Although the strict limit of gatherings is still in place, theme parks such as Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park may reopen.

The parks haven't announced specific opening dates yet.

Disneyland initially reopened in June but was forced to close again in July due to a second wave.

In addition, bars and karaoke lounges may operate until midnight and must restrict patrons to four per table.

"We appeal to the public to not be complacent and let down their guard," said Health Secretary Sophie Chan.

The special administrative region has so far detected nearly 5,000 Covid-19 cases, resulting in just over 100 deaths.
