Tunisia joins Barbados in adding UK to its 'high risk' Covid list

Tunisia has reclassified the UK as a Covid 'red' country, meaning that, from today, entry will only be permitted to Tunisian nationals or people who are permanent residents in the country.

British nationals that are not permanent residents in Tunisia will not be allowed in.

Tunisian nationals or permanent residents entering the country must take a PCR test 72 hours before travel and show evidence of the negative test result on arrival, then must quarantine for 14 days.

The first seven days will be in a quarantine centre, which must be paid for by the passenger. During this time a second test will be carried out.

If the test comes back negative, passengers will be permitted to quarantine at home for the second week.

Similarly, Barbados has put the UK on its 'high risk' Covid list, with new restrictions coming into force from 1 October.

From 19 September it has been mandatory for travellers from the UK to show a negative PCR test on arrival into the country.

From 1 October, British holidaymakers will be retested in Barbados two to three days after arrival.

Until the second test results are received, they won't be confined to their room but will have access to some hotel amenities.

Once given the all clear, they will undergo a regular self-conducted monitoring test, which involves taking  daily self-temperature checks and sharing that information with the public health teams who will check in via call or text.

Monitoring is generally for seven days after arrival or the length of stay, whichever is shorter.

If visitors begin to feel unwell at any point of their holiday, they can let health officials know and receive any treatment they may need.
