CAA refund credit note update

It's understood the Civil Aviation Authority will make an announcement on refund credit notes next week.

Pressure has been growing on the CAA to keep its word and clarify whether refund credit notes issued after 30 September - nearly three weeks ago - will have ATOL protection.

In July, the CAA belatedly issued guidance stating that RCNs - introduced as a temporary measure to help the industry deal with the tsunami of refund requests - would benefit from ATOL protection up until 30 September 2021 if they were issued between 10 March and 30 September.

A CAA spokesperson said it was likely a decision would be made next week, but couldn't confirm what the update would be.
