Budget airline SpiceJet has begun offering online booking of pre-travel Covid-19 PCR tests.
The service is available for home and clinic tests in India and tests conducted at clinics in the United Arabic Emirates.
SpiceJet is the only airline in India offering a service like this, and partnered with VFS Global.
"We believe that this will give our passengers the confidence and peace of mind while adjusting to the new norms of travelling," said SpiceJet Chief Commercial Officer Shilpa Bhatia.
ICMR-approved testing labs are located in Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune.
Spicejet says the cost is based on regulated prices set by local government bodies.
Passengers travelling from the UAE will have to submit their test samples at a designated facilty in Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Sharjah.
The airline hopes to allay 'rising apprehension among travellers regarding the entire process of complying with various pre-travel requirements.'
