JetBlue to stop blocking all middle seats

JetBlue says it will start reducing the number of blocked seats on flights.


It will keep blocking some middle seats, but will gradually reduce the number it keeps free from 1 December.


Until then it will keep capacity at a maximum 70%.


From December it will sell more seats but hasn't decided exactly how many, said JetBlue spokesman Derek Dombrowski.


During the holidays, when it expects more families traveling, 'a small number of rows' will be reserved for groups traveling together to occupy all the seats.


JetBlue President Joanna Geraghty recently said the policy of blocking seats 'is not something that's sustainable,' long term.


Southwest Airlines last week said it will also sell more seats after 1 December.
