Jane McDonald bigs up travel agents

TV entertainer Jane McDonald has again won the hearts of the nation's travel agents after telling The One Show they're having a terrible time during the Covid crisis.


Jane was on the BBC show to plug her new album, and the conversation then turned to her love of cruising and how she hopes the industry will pick up.


"It's such a massive industry and people LOVE cruising. I mean, literally love it.





"Once you've done a cruise and you fall in love with that ship you will go for years and years. It's devastating what is going on in the travel industry in general.


"It's the cruising industry, all the staff on the cruise ships, the airlines, the travel agents. Travel agents are going through a terrible time as well so all we can do is live in hope.


"That's all we can do. We just have to get through this."


Agents took to social media to praise her, with dozens posting on Jane's Facebook page.


Travel agent Mair Jones said: "We have no-one hearing our voices right now and are being overlooked, so thank you for your support during this dark time we are going through."


Avril Fulton said: "We have had our troubles fall on deaf ears. From the bottom of our travel hearts, thank you."


Christopher Jago added: "Thank you so much for mentioning the travel industry's plight. If only the government appreciated it too!"


Tracey Woodfine posted: "Thank you so much Jane for mentioning the travel industry tonight on the One Show, particularly travel agents. Finally someone mentioning us and the absolute hell we are going through at the moment."
