Package prices are down by as much as 54% year on year, according to holiday comparison website TravelSupermarket.
It looked at the average price for holiday searches this month compared with the average price of holidays in January of last year and found the cost of packages for the most popular destinations was lower.
According to TravelSupermarket, the most popular search for a seven-night holiday between May and October 2021 is Crete, which has seen a 10% fall in prices year on year.
Tenerife, the second most popular destination, has seen price falls of 13%, while packages to Majorca, the next most popular, are down 9%.
The biggest price drop is for the Algarve, where prices are down 54%. TravelSupermarket says this could be due to a fall in demand following news that a new strain of the coronavirus first found in Brazil is affecting travel to Portugal.
The UK currently has a ban on arrivals from Portugal as well as Brazil and most other countries in South America.
