Pontins blacklisted 'undesirable' Irish Travellers from booking holidays
Holiday park operator Pontins had a blacklist of Irish surnames it used to deny bookings from customers it suspected were from the Gypsy and Traveller community. The firm has vowed to change work practices after an investigation by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
It was sparked by a whistleblower complaint and found call centre staff were told to refuse or cancel bookings made by certain people with an Irish accent or surname.
