American Airlines flight crew robbed at gunpoint in Costa Rica

American Airlines passengers flying to Miami from Costa Rica endured a long delay of more than seven hours. It happened because the crew on duty were held up at gunpoint and robbed en route to the airport.

The airline confirmed the armed robbery and has implemented 'enhanced measures to ensure the safety of our team members.' 

The crew van was held up after robbers threw debris in the road to force the vehicle to stop. The flight crew were en route from their hotel to Juan Santamaría International Airport.

The flight eventually took off after the lengthy delay.
