Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is coming to Mallorca with the rebrand of one of the island's most storied hotel properties.
In collaboration with PE firm Emin Capita, the former Hotel Formentor, which dates back to 1929, will be transformed into a Four Seasons property with 110 rooms and suites.
The hotel will undergo extensive renovations before reopening as a Four Seasons experience in 2023.
It is located on a 1,200 hectare plot of the Formentor Peninsula, offering access to a pristine beach.
"Following our entry into Spain in 2020, we are very excited to continue this momentum and expand our presence in this important market with a resort in Mallorca," says John Davison, President and CEO, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
"Formentor is a landmark of Mallorca in a key and unique setting in the Mediterranean," said Jordi Badia, Chairman and CEO of Emin Capital.
Located an hour away from Palma de Mallorca Airport, the upcoming Four Seasons in Mallorca will offer multiple culinary offerings including an indoor restaurant, beachfront restaurant and café, spa facilities and exclusive seafront activities as one of the few properties in the area with direct beach access.
Renovations will be overseen by architects Estudio Lamela and SCT Estudio de Arquitectura, with interior designs by Gilles & Boissier.
The resort will also feature tennis courts and three event spaces.
Four Seasons' new project in Mallorca will become the second Four Seasons location in Spain following the recent opening of Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Madrid in September 2020.
