Dutch sign up for Covid holiday pilot scheme on Greek island

A Dutch travel firm plans to take almost 200 people to Greece for an eight-day holiday as a dry run for safe holidays during the pandemic.

It is offering an all-inclusive break on the island of Rhodes costing €399 (£344) per person, and there has been huge response with 25,000 people signing up for the government-backed pilot scheme.

However there are caveats. Guests have to stay within the resort and quarantine for up to 10 days when they return home. The Netherlands official government advice is to avoid overseas travel until at least May. The country has recorded more than 16,000 Covid-19 deaths.
